DBA DEMAND

Recruiters and industry sources in the metropolitan Washington area report a strong demand for information technology (IT) professionals trained as Oracle database administrators (DBAs).

"Really good DBAs are hard to come by," said Stanley Wood president of the Columbia, Md.-based consultancy Integrated Business Information Systems, Inc.

"It's harder to find a good Oracle DBA than an Oracle developer," said D.C.-based IT recruiter Bart Weisman. "The DBA's job function is so mission critical, they really have to know what they're doing."
