ORACLE TRAINING
Steve O'Hearn is vice president for db-Training, the training division of the Fairfax, Va.-based Information Systems Consortium Inc. (ISC), and also serves as vice president of the Mid Atlantic Association of Oracle Professionals. db-Training provides instructor led classroom training for Oracle professionals, and ISC is comprised of roughly 20 Oracle consulting firms bound by a memorandum of understanding to share resources and opportunities.
"We realize there's a shortage of people, and there's also a shortage of well trained people," O'Hearn said, adding, "There is a chronic need for good training," in Oracle technologies. O'Hearn believes Oracle developer training serves as the foundation for a successful career in all Oracle based professions, including database administration, data modeling, and Oracle financials.
Laughery notes that some DBAs working for NASD have experience as Oracle developers, and he has found that it helps them interact with the development staff." DBAs often function as in-house consultants on development projects, he added.
